Celebrating 2012’s Urban X Winners

The annual Urban X Awards celebrates the best and brightest “ethnic” performers, producers, directors, and releases of 2012 and the list of this year’s winners is truly a who’s-who of African American, Latin, and Asian porn. (Well, the made-in-America kind anyway.)

Although Mr. Pink’s favorite ebony fuck-goddess (and the co-host of this year’s awards), Nyomi Banxxx, failed to score any trophies, plenty of other ace performers went home very happy. Skin Diamond not only walked away with Female Performer of the Year, Leilani Leeane won Rising Star Female (a well deserved award if ever there was one), and Jada Stevens proved an invaluable white girl by scoring Interracial Star of the Year for her multitude of black-in-white anal and DP scenes. As for the guys, Prince Yahshua proved himself fully recovered from a nasty on-set injury that seemed certain to prematurely end his career just two short years ago by being crowned Male Performer of the Year and Best Anal Sex Scene (with Kagney Linn Karter for Prince the Penetrator).

Japanese-American superstar, Asa Akira, took home another two trophies to add to her quickly growing collection – she already won seven AVNs this year alone – this time winning Best Asian Series for Asa Akira is Insatiable and Best Asian Release for said series’ second installment, which also scored director Mason a Best Director: Gonzo award.

The real winners, however, are the fans and… HOLY SHIT! Is that Gianna Michaels? Where the hell has she been? I thought she retired! Screw the Urban X winners, Gianna Michael’s back, baby!

Bold, Busty, and Free!

Now that we’ve all had time to digest our barbecue and lose our hangovers, we, the Americans can look back on another day of national celebration with pride. Fourth of July, Independence Day 2012 was another in a long line of fun and freedom-filled parties across the nation. Here’s a few happenings that reminded us of what makes our great nation great and what freedom has enabled Americans to achieve.

San Diegans saw their fireworks display end rather abruptly as soon as it began when the entire cache of explosives blew at the same time, turning what would have been a 17-minute display into 15 short, awe-inspiring seconds of ka-boom:

But it was over at Naughty America that the most dazzling display of national pride occurred, with Lisa Ann, Jessica Jaymes, and Nicole Aniston wearing their stars and stripes loudly and proudly in support of the country that has welcomed them (and their fantastic racks) into a $13 billion dollar industry that’s all about freedom, making them superstars just for doing what comes naturally and freely expressing their sexualities.

Urban X Award nominees announced

Racial divisions haven’t disappeared from our society and they likely never will, and while the porn industry sees a wealth of interracial hardcore movies made every year, race is nonetheless a touchy subject even in a business where everyone fucking everyone else is par for the course. While I haven’t come across any major complaints regarding possible racial discrimination at the annual AVN, XRCO or XBIZ awards, the existence of the Urban X Awards proves that there’s still reason to celebrate the contributions of African-Americans, Latinos y Latinas, and performers, directors, and producers of non-Caucasian ethnicities.

Due to be held July 21st at Beyond the Stars Palace in Glendale, CA, this years Urban X Awards is set to be an evening filled with rivalry and revelry as the best and brightest ethnic talents in porn compete for the dozens of fan-voted Urban X trophies. Nominees were announced just a few days ago and, not surprisingly, saw many of Mr. Pink’s favorite performers recognized by a significant industry body – for once.

Nabbing five nominations is this year’s returning host, Nyomi Banxxx. One of the most sorely undervalued and underused women in porn, Ms. Banxxx is up for Best Couple Sex Scene twice (A Touch of Seduction with Flash Brown, The Black Mother Fuckers with Prince Yashua), Orgasmic Oralist, MILF Performer of the Year, and the most prized award, Female Performer of the Year, which she took home last year.

Also up for five awards is the Japanese-American London Keyes, while Asa Akira and Misty Stone have nabbed four nominations each. The woman to watch, however, a woman likely to be the next crossover superstar, Skin Diamond, who is probably right now celebrating her six nominations for Best 3 Way Sex Scene (with Bella Moretti and Mr. Marcus in Hitchhikers 2), Best Anal Sex Scene (with fellow rising starlet, Leilani Leeane in Mike Adriano’s Black Anal Addiction), Best Couple Sex Scene (Black Diamonds with Sean Michaels and Porn’s Top Black Models 3 with Lex Steele himself), as well as Orgasmic Oralist and Female Performer of the Year.

With Skin Diamond and Nyomi Banxxx both impressing with their incredible oral and anal skills, in the immortal words of ELO’s Jeff Lynne, they’re “headin’ for a showdown!” To find out who’ll come out on top we’ll have to wait until July 26th, but in the meantime, there’s a ton of excellent ethnic and interracial porn right at your fingertips. Canada to Joanna Angel: “Nay, Nay!”

Anyone in London, Ontario who decided to follow Mr. Pink’s advice and head to the second annual Shock Stock to meet, greet, and nervously trade banter with Burning Angel’s founder and creative genius, Joanna Angel, might just a bit pissed off. See, Joanna was all set to not only meet fans, sign autographs, and sell her excellent Fuckenstein DVD; she had also been invited to perform a “dance performance” of an unknown nature. Turns out someone, somewhere, for some reason, objected to the proposed performance, made a complaint to London PD, and succeeded in keeping Joanna from shaking what Mama Angel gave her. Shock Stock’s organizers had supposedly, according to Angel, told the tattooed punk pornstar to tone down her dance at the convention after party this Saturday past because they were “getting heat.” Telling AVN News, Angel stated “The whole point was that my dance was meant to be arousing, so if I couldn’t take anything off or even move suggestively, it probably was best for me not to do it at all.” In the end, Joanna explained, she hosted the party without performing and there was no further complication with law enforcement.

I only hope those fans of Joanna’s who had intended to see more of her during Shock Stock bothered to snag a copy of Fuckenstein. Taking on James Deen and Ramon Nomar with what can only be called a lascivious frenzy, Angel is about as explicitly exposed as possible here, and that should soothe the wounded dreams of horny Londoners cursing the fuzz, the man, the po-po for once again ruining some good, clean, harmless sexual degeneracy!
