AVN’s 2017 Hall of Females

The swingingest dicks in porn are being celebrated for their many-year contributions to adult entertainment at the forthcoming AVN Awards and our last blog looked at Steve Holmes, Mick Blue, and Christian XXX on the eve of their induction into the AVN Hall of Fame. This time around, we’re looking at the accomplished and acclaimed ladies to enter the annals of adult video history. Watch out, though, ’cause the AVN Hall of Fame class of 2017 is, dear reader, a wild one.

Last time Tory Lane was in the news, she had gone a little haywire on an airplane and gotten herself arrested upon landing at LAX. AVN doesn’t cater to gossip hounds (well, not that much) and has cemented Ms. Lane as a pornstar for the ages, inviting the two-time AVN winner into the Hall of Fame this year. Shooting two typically intense scenes for Brazzers this year, Lane isn’t letting a little legal brouhaha slow down her rampant sluttiness – thank fuck! Also retired from active shooting – and now with a small family to support – Aurora Snow has taken to her keyboard and now pens articles for such publications as the Daily Beast, bringing a much-needed pro-porn perspective to the public mainstream discussion. Focused on the social, political, and human environmental impact of adult entertainment, Snow could very well follow in the footsteps of now indispensable sex educators as Nina Hartley and Annie Sprinkle.

Having retired in 2014 from adult films, Daisy Marie is something of an unexpected entrant into the AVN Hall of Fame this year. Still posing for her fans and followers on Instagram and performing the occasional online webcam show at CamSoda, the plump-lipped Latina still aims to capture the attention and libidinous imagination of fans worldwide. Not even close to retiring, on the other hand, is Monique Alexander, whom the AVN crew also induct this year. AVN Hall of Famers Hit Vegas

As America’s capital city of sin and vice, Las Vegas, Nevada kicks into gear to welcome the world’s most high-profile throng of onscreen sex workers, from homegrown webcammers to trophy-winning anal artists, to the 2017 AVN Awards Show, one particular group of adult industry professionals has been invited to step into the annals of history. Announcing the annual slate of AVN Hall of Fame inductees late last year, Adult Video News cemented a handful of names as upper echelon porn identities and here we’ll take a look at this years celebrated men.

There are obviously copious contributions made behind-the-scenes without which the sex we soak up would be half as good, but we here at Mr. Pink’s try to concern ourselves with who’s onscreen more than who’s in the executive suite at the studio. In front of the camera, the men we’ve come to begrudgingly respect and, shit, even admire that AVN has seen fit to crown this year include an Austrian, a Transylvanian Saxon, and one of the industry’s chief targets of cyber-bullying.

Christian XXX sees more than his fair share of hate mail, I’m sure. Look in the comments of any adult site on which he appears and you’ll see guys frothing at the mouth over their distaste for his hetero-flexible habits, commitment to BBW and trans-porn, and staunch outsider status. Nonetheless, Christian’s accomplishments have earned him a devoted fan base of all orientations and a place in the porno Parthenon that is the AVN Hall of Fame.

Mick Blue is arguably the most likable guy in porn. An Austrian with a charming accent, emotive face, and icy blue eyes, and the husband of fellow AVN Award winner Anikka Albrite, he has racked up more awards in the European and American industries than any guy still working that you’d care to name. Now he can add another accolade to his mental mantle, a place among the gods of human sexual entertainment. Best seen in his creator-owned BAM Visions work at Evil Angel, Blue seems set for many more years thrusting with lust in our honor.

Similarly long-standing, Romanian-born German actor Steve Holmes (who I first came to really value thanks to Burning Angel) is also this year being inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame, likely thanks to his hugely adaptable persona. Equally at home playing a drunken hobo, a tuxedo-clad debonair hero, or a sleazy stepdad who probably shouldn’t be rifling through his wife’s daughter’s underwear drawers, Holmes is a buoyant, cheerful presence whenever he steps before a camera. His evolution from fetishistic European outsider to a reliable character stud for the US mainstream is also remarkable.

Next week we’ll be looking not at the guys but at the women, the female performers ushered into the adult world’s much more youthful counterpart to the Oscars’s Lifetime Achievement winners’ circle. Some of them you really won’t believe can even stand up straight, let alone walk a red carpet and accept an on-stage honor before a potential audience of millions. Others, you’ll wonder where they find the time to dress up and party what with all those god-damn-divine blowjobs they’ve been giving for our entertainment, bless them.

Adult Empire’s 2016 Swipe Right

Come late-December, every media outlet scrambles to assemble some short-sighted year-end review and adult entertainment is no different than any other industry. Adult Empire, one of the few indispensable outlets of porn-related news and knowledge, also released its annual report of porn trends and highlighted a few developments we at Mr. Pink’s have also been reporting on.

Adult Empire’s report, 2016: The Best of the Best, details fan-favorite performers, and both home video and Video-On-Demand releases while a second report, 2016: Top Trends on AE, lists the top top trending pornstars, DVD genres, studios, and adult search terms. Among the clear winners were many acclaimed stars and studios – Julia Ann and Alexis Texas; gonzo and anal porn; Evil Angel and Wicked Pictures, for example – as well as a few more recent trends. Interracial sex and fucking a “family” member both came out of 2016 more popular than ever with Greg Lansky’s Blacked and fetish performer Jodi West trending hard in their respective categories. Blacked and Tushy, Lansky’s anal series, also cleaned up in the DVD and VOD departments, though it’s the latter viewing platform that is attracting viewers of more varied taste. (Trans, lesbian, and European titles occupy more top slots in VOD than in physical sales.)

Romantic erotic hardcore with artful cinematography also proved a itself a strong-selling niche this year, as Adult Empire’s rankings show. The Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed, a BDSM-heavy feature from New Sensations tied with Blacked’s Interracial Orgies as DVD title with the longest reign at #1 – five weeks while also tying for first place in the VOD report.

What do these notable trends of last year mean for adult entertainment in 2017? That is still a little murky if you go by AE’s twin reports. There’s no mention of 4K, UHD, VR, or 3D as trending search terms and Camille Adore isn’t exactly roaring up the most-searched-for pornstar listings (not yet), but those things seemed certain to be huge in the new year. Are the pollsters wrong about this, too? Will porn viewers really ignore all the latest techno-trends and continue selecting their porn for its (gasp) content? Only time (and future Adult Empire reports) will tell.

The XXX-Mas Festivities Continue

There’s no shortage of Christmas porn being produced this year by the big guns of adult entertainment. And though you really should check out Mr. Pink’s blogs on the yuletide smut just unleashed by Brazzers, Spizoo, Lubed, and Holed, there’s more holly-dappled hardcore on the way from some other major contributors to your carnal entertainment.

Those interracially motivated deviants at Dogfart have roped in a shaven-headed elf by the name of Riley Nixon to show Santa’s appreciation for good guy Lexington Steele’s standup behavior all year. Inside a ribbon-wrapped box underneath his tree, Riley is waiting to pounce and give Lex the perfect ending to his year.

Another devoted cultivator of hardcore content, Jules Jordan, has also snagged his viewers a bubbly little bundle of Christmas cheer in Holly Hendrix, whose neglected asshole is the focus of her Christmas wishes. With Steve Holmes donning the Santa suit, the dark-eyed burgeoning superstar will definitely see her wish granted.

Not content to let other studios have all the fun, Reality Kings has aimed its festive focus on the Monster Curves of Nikki Capone, who greets her husband Ramon Nomar in a Christmas outfit (if you can call it that) that should help reignite the lust her overworked husband has recently lacked.

Arguably the most convincingly elven pornstar working today, Piper Perri stopped by Passion HD to deliver a gift to Johnny Castle, decorating their bed and her body with red-and-white accouterments before simply laying back to anticipate his reaction. There’s bound to be a few other holiday fuck-taculars trickling online the closer we inch toward the 25th, but those I’ll leave to you to find. Me, I’ll be too busy trying to squeeze a little nutrition into a traditional American Christmas feast and avoid whichever relative polished off my booze stash.
