2014 AVN Nominees Announced – Now with More tips!

The adult entertainment industry already has a strong presence in the city of Las Vegas, but come January 18 of 2014, “Sin City” will be positively overrun with cocksuckers, assfuckers, cum guzzlers, pussy-drillers, camera-wielders, lighting technicians, (legal) pimps and publicists and promotions teams, all focused on one thing and one thing only: recognition. (Well, and sex, too. And money.) And, with nominees now announced in all 135 categories, the AVN Awards season is in full swing. But who’s careers are on the verge of exploding thanks to a statuette, which superstars are about to become legends, and which behind-the-scenes talent is hot-tipped to become the next Axel Braun or John Stagliano?

Having ogled and assessed porn in every 50 weeks of the year thus far, I, Mr. Pink, am in a particularly good position to offer my tips to all those engaging in a little NSFW betting pool, for all the major categories at least. While there are simply too many nominees to list them all here – my apologies to all those hard-working men and women left unmentioned – we’ll be assessing the odds of our favorites scoring the top prizes in their respective categories over a few blogs in the lead-up to the 2014 AVN Awards. And why don’t we start with the most coveted prizes of all…?

Having signed an exclusive performance contract with Wicked Pictures and lending her directorial talents to Elegant Angel, 2013 AVN Female Performer of the Year Asa Akira hasn’t slowed or cooled down one bit since her win earlier this year and looks set to become the second back-to-back winner (after Tori Black in 2010 and 2011).

Winner of the 2013 Male Performer of the Year trophy, James Deen has had a pretty incredible year, but don’t be surprised if his dramatic turn in Paul Schrader and Bret Easton Ellis’s ‘The Canyons’ puts him in top spot as Mainstream Star of the Year, making room for another win by perennial favorite Manuel Ferrara (for what would be his fifth).

In my personal favorite category of the AVNs, Best New Starlet, the competition is fierce and sees everyone from A.J. Applegate and Casey Calvert coming up against Raven Rockette, Rikki Six, and Jodi Taylor, but my pick goes to the tiny yet utterly insatiable Cindy Starfall. In her first full year of US porn production, Ms. Starfall shot her first creampie, blow-bang, squirting, double-vaginal, and gangbang scenes. Sure, other girls have done much the same this year, but nobody has come close to Cindy’s aggressive enthusiasm, camera-lens eye contact, compact but thrilling figure, and, most of all, the way her Vietnamese-accented voice begs for ‘your’ attention and affection.

Halloween Porn Roundup! It’s that time again…

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year, the day when dressing up in all manner of absurd and irreverent, even impolite, costumes is not only accepted but fucking mandatory. It’s Halloween and the porn industry knows it! Something of an annual feature here at Mr. Pink’s, we run the rounds of the best porn sites on the ‘net and see how they’re delivering the spooky costumed goods this Halloween.

This year Bang Bros is showing surprising restraint and only has a single Halloween-themed scene online, but it’s a doozy. Chinese hottie Alina Li waltzes in all gussied up as a sexy nurse in search of a Big Mouthful on the BB site of the same name. With latex gloves on she strokes and sucks but eventually demands complete fulfillment, riding the POV dick to an explosive (and apparently tasty) finish.

Mofos also delivers a lone Halloween scene, also shot in POV, that sees another newcomer, Addison Grey, getting ready for a night on the town in her adorable kitty-cat outfit. Her “boyfriend,” however, can’t keep his hands of her leotarded ass and manages to keep her home long enough to start the night off right.

Naughty America favorites Phoenix Marie and Tasha Reign both don costumes and seek a quick romp before the party. Although Phoenix’s is a pretty unimpressive roller skating outfit, Tasha makes an amazing impression as Batgirl as she drains “King” Danny Mountain’s royal reserve.

Although Reality Kings also lacks quantity this Halloween with only one scene hitting the theme, it makes up for it by shooting an In The VIP orgy starring eight relative newcomers wearing an assortment of barely-there costumes going to town on at least three dudes, maybe more; as with most In The VIP orgies, the writhing mess of colorful bodies are hard to kinda keep track of.

The clear winner, however, is Brazzers. Who else but the ZZ would insist upon a whopping five hardcore Halloween celebrations? Jay Snakes is lured into a kinky hospital room and proceeds to “stuff the cunt” of a blindfolded and bloodied nurse (Jasmine Jae) at Doctor Adventures. MILFs Like it Big sees Ariella Ferrera, Veronica Avluv, and India Summer chained and controlled by Johnny Sins and Keiran Lee in a mysterious and regal throne room. The Cunt of Cthulhu from Baby Got Boobs sees bustacious Emma Leigh taking Danny D on a blistering hardcore adventure that’s well and truly out of this world. Fifties greaser couple Cameron Dee and Van Wylde scream and screw their way through a haunted house at Teens Like it Big. But it’s Hot and Mean’s lesbian foursome Mia Malkova, Abby Cross, Kiera Winters, and Lola Foxx that seem to have the most fun in their lampooning of Spring Breakers; their don disguises, hold up a diner, and end up fucking on the restaurant floor.

With Brazzers making such a laudable effort to ensure your Halloween isn’t a bust, pornographically speaking, it seems most other US-based porn sites have to lift their game and put a little more effort into their annual costumed adventures. (Kinda like you and your costumes, “Walter White” store bought Mario guy!)

Explicit Japanese Art on Display at British Museum

Those of you who’ve discovered the often bizarre eroticism posted by hot hipster chicks on Tumblr may be aware of the recent resurgence in a form of erotic art that remained hidden from the West for centuries: octopus-fucking.

Although certainly not restricted to cephalopod-human relations, the sexually explicit Japanese art form known as shunga (spring pictures) rose to prominence in the Edo period (1603 to 1867) and persists to this day. The British Museum celebrates shunga with a new exhibition of works from such masters of ukiyo-e (woodblock prints and paintings) as Torii Kiyonaga, Kitagawa Utamaro, Hosoda Eishi, and, perhaps the most revered of all classical Japanese artists, Katsushika Hokusai (whose non-erotic print ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ can be found on postcards, napkins, aprons, notebooks, and other knick-knacks in souvenir shops around the world, as well as at the British Museum).

Contemporary artists such as Masami Teraoka, Yuji Moriguchi, and Jeff Faerber are continuing the Shunga tradition and using its form and historical connotations to examine AIDS, contemporary pornography, voyeurism, cultural globalization, and the increasingly self-determined path of female sexual expression. The exhibition at the British Museum, however, keeps its focus on shunga of the past. No less exploratory and celebratory than contemporary works and featuring everything from tentacle-rape fantasies, over-sized genitalia, Buddhist priests fondling their acolytes, samurai orgies, and even the occasional tender and romantic love scene.

Vivid Live to Open in Miami

Vivid Entertainment has been pushing even further into the mainstream media of late, thanks in part to the company’s continued devotion to releasing celebrity sex tapes. Now the LA-based adult entertainment empire is launching a new endeavor: a 30,000 square foot Miami nightclub that’s due to open the weekend of September 13th.

According to the Miami New Times, Vivid Live is an upscale gentleman’s club that includes 22 VIP suites, four “extra-exclusive luxury suites” (whatever they are), a cutting-edge sound system, 20-foot-projector screens, and 40 HD plasma TVs showing every sporting event imaginable. (Though why you’d visit a strip club for fight night is beyond me.) Smashing the proverbial champagne bottle on this new Vivid endeavor is none other than pornstar-denier Farrah Abraham of MTV’s Teen Mom and best-selling Vivid sex tape ‘Farrah Abraham: Backdoor Teen Mom’, who hosts the opening night party (and complimentary seafood feast). The following night sees another two sex tape stars take up hosting duties: Myla Sinanaj (former girlfriend of NBA star Kris Humphries and rival of Kim Kardashian) and Sydney Leathers, “cyber-mistress” of New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner. Those with a professional connection to the club – including press, VIPs, and industry affiliates – are clearly winning, though, as their September 12th invitation-only event is set to be hosted by none other than Tera Patrick.

Those behind Vivid Live are still looking for female talent to work their magic onstage in a “safe and friendly upscale atmosphere”.
