Gone, But Not Forgotten: Porn’s 2014 Retirees

As one year closes and another dawns, and as a genuine legend of porn and one of the most memorable mainstream crossover successes in recent years retires (that’d be Lisa Ann), it’s well worth remembering the handful of other adult performers, women specifically, who for whatever reason decided 2014 would see the end of their porn careers and, as far as we forward-looking porn fans are concerned, the end of each of them as we know it. (Save those heading for self-employment through webcam, bless them!) Adult performers hanging up their bedazzled thongs this year included the following five Mr. Pink’s faves:

– Evelyn Lin: now hosting club nights at various, uh, nightclubs around North America.

– Holly Michaels: engaged, she left porn and, if her Amazon Wish List is any indication, might have started a family!

– Mischa Brooks: quietly stopped working and announced her retirement from “adult” with assurances that we’d “see her soon” – whatever that means.

– Alina Li: after a bad experience with a certain notoriously edgy BDSM studio, would prefer to wait tables at this point.

– Abella Anderson: in business for herself and now selling swimwear, makeup, and prints of her fine self at Alluring Star; she also performs live on Camster.

Hey, at least ass-tastic Jynx Maze, who apparently retired earlier this year, is back in action! Hopefully she’ll inspire some bold and adventurous newcomers to enter porn and fill the void left by the above dear departed stars.

Jada Stevens, Mia Malkova, Nick Sterling Turn Exclusive

wo of the most bottom-heavy beauties in American porn, Jada Stevens and Mia Malkova, both announced exclusive performance deals recently with Malkova signing with Hard X and Stevens aligning herself with new studio ArchAngel Productions. Various other ass-loving adult studios read the announcements and wept.

Malkova, the reigning AVN Best New Starlet, signed with her pals at Hard X after shooting a handful of scenes with director Mason and will make her in-contract debut in Super Cute 2 (released this month). Although permitted to shoot solo and girl-girl content for other studios, Malkova, who recently made her anal debut at Brazzers, will be taking dick only for Hard X.

Taking her reign as Evil Angel’s legendary Buttwoman even further, one of porn’s other truly ass-tastic beauties, Jada Stevens has thrown her lot in with a brand new company headed by award-winning director MimeFreak. In her first feature for ArchAngel Productions, the focus will be firmly on Stevens’s ample rear and exceptional anal skills; but she’s not stopping there. After The Booty Movie, which she apparently helped cast, Stevens will be seen in Anal Warriors – “[It’s] about bitches taking it in the ass,” says MimeFreak – alongside fellow anal acrobats Adriana Chechik, Dahlia Skye, Dana DeArmond and Natasha Starr, all of whom she’s surely set to out-perform. After all, she was Buttwoman!

There’s been some contract signing happening over on the all-male side of the industry, too, with Falcon Studios Group nabbing rising star Nick Sterling all for themselves. As per Sterling’s deal, he’ll shoot for Falcon and its Raging Stallion and Hot House subsidiaries after making his Falcon debut with Ready to Fuck. Falcon President Chris Ward was mightily impressed with Sterling’s first hardcore scene and considered signing him to an exclusive contract on the spot, but took some time to make sure. “Nick Sterling is handsome with a penetrating gaze and he’s got a body, dick, and ass that was made to appear in adult film,” Ward said. Sterling meanwhile expressed his gratitude, calling the Falcon team “some of the warmest and most professional people I have worked with in the industry. They make the experience fun and memorable each and every time.”

Let’s hope these three remarkable performers use their new home studios to bring us a fun and memorable experience each time, too.

Adriano’s Third Anal Overdose

Dana Does Hollywood Darkly

Having been climbing the porno ladder since starting as a performer 2003, the latest woman to join Evil Angel’s directorial roster, Dana Vespoli, knows a thing or twenty about Hollywood and she’s putting some nuggets of wisdom and a few of the more sordid anecdotes into her latest feature, Hollywood Babylon.

Due for release at the close of this month, Hollywood Babylon sees Vespoli drag her female lead, Sovereign Syre through the proverbial mud of Tinsel Town as she aims for the money, glamor, and fame stardom brings. Calling her newest Evil Angel effort “part love letter to Hollywood, part meditation on the notion of reinvention, and of course an exploration of twisted, psycho-sexual relationships,” Vespoli claims the idea came to her quite simply, by asking herself a question: “What if a girl came to Hollywood and became involved with a psychopathic plastic surgeon?” Played by porn’s most popular male thespian, Steven St. Croix, said plastic surgeon doesn’t limit his treatment of Syre to office appointments, inviting her to partake of a little familial loving with he and his wife (played by Dana DeArmond). Hollywood psychos seem to be a problem for Syre, though, and she becomes embroiled in a detective story that sees actor J.M. Darling attempt to sniff out the truth. Hell, it even sees Ms. DeArmond fire a handgun right into the camera lens for an altogether more shocking scene than even her most intense DPs.

With Vespoli keeping the budget of her mini-opus down to only $18,000 yet somehow managing to cast some of porn’s most talented fuckers – Syre, DeArmond, St. Croix, James Deen, Ryan Driller, Roman Nomar, and Italy’s latest, greatest, most curvaceous import, Valentina Nappi – Evil Angel couldn’t be happier. “[Features are] something we don’t usually do at Evil Angel,” said the company’s Justin Rich, “but Dana has the filmmaking chops to do it well.” And, when it comes to psychologically dark feature porn, there’s no better or more adventurous director currently working than Dana Vespoli. That much is certain.

Hollywood Babylon is to be released by Evil Angel on April 30, 2014.
