Elegant Angel Ranks Black Pornstars

Elegant Angel is a company that lives to rank and categorize pornstars. From the always-successful Performers of the Year releases to feature titles celebrating a woman who has finally earned herself a headline role, Elegant Angel’s features often focus on achievements made by performers instead of a niche sexual act like so many other studios. Now, after the success of its 100 Sexiest Porn Stars Ever and 25 Sexiest Boobs Ever countdowns, EA once again let the fans have their say, urging them to vote for the 25 Sexiest Black Porn Stars Ever. The results? Well, they’re a little predictable but worth celebrating nonetheless.

While I can’t help but think it’s a little absurd to keep African American performers firmly in their own category while the white girls and Latinas battle it out in the unqualified, racially diverse Sexiest Pornstars poll – only three black performers made that list: Roxy Reynolds, Pinky, and Jada Fire – is that simply because black women in porn have proven to be fairly unpopular? Lex Steele and Prince Yashua are top draws, perpetuating the myth of dominant black male sexuality (though you can hardly blame them or their generous genes for that), while black women seem relegated to niche releases. If Nyomi Banxxx is the sexiest black female performer of all time, how come she didn’t make the general top 100 poll?

Although Elegant Angel hasn’t disclosed the numerical rank of the 25 Sexiest Black Porn Stars Ever, here are the names emblazoned on the box art: Nyomi Banxxx, Jada Fire, Skin Diamond, Misty Stone, Megan Vaughan, Roxy Reynolds, Bethany Benz, Baby Cakes, Marie Luv, Pinky, Ana Foxxx, Catalina Taylor, Evanni Solei, Vanessa Blue, Cherokee, Carmen Hayes, Olivia Winters, Kitten, Bella Moretti, Leilani Leeane, Lacey Duvalle, Jasmine Cashmere…

Well, that’s 22 of them. Who are the other three? I guess we’ll have to wait until 25 Sexiest Black Porn Stars Ever inches closer to confirming a release date. In the meantime, Complex ranked their favorite black adult performers and came up with some decidedly different results.

Lane Sisters Snag XBIZ Nomination

Canadian sisters Roxy and Shana Lane received their first Mr. Pink’s review only a few weeks ago after launching their site only a few short months prior, but it looks like they’re already making an impact. XBIZ has just announced that the near-identical brunettes have garnered a nomination for said industry body’s awards in the category of Web Star of the Year.

Beating out more than 4,500 other pre-nominated adult performers, the Lane Sisters’ nomination pits them against online porn mainstays like Kelly Madison, Ariel Rebel, Jelena Jensen and Vicky Vette, which Roxy calls “scary but exciting. Without all the love and support from our fans, none of this would be possible.”

Tera Patrick, Roxy and Shana’s sometime guest star, is set to present the 2013 XBIZ Awards on January 11 in Century City, Los Angeles.

Elegant Angel’s Performers of the Year 2013

Every year, at the end of the year, one of porn’s most consistently brilliant companies, Elegant Angel, releases its Performers of the Year feature, and this year it’s shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory.

Asa Akira, widely considered by fans and industry folks alike to be the breakout performer of 2012, Brooklyn Lee, winner of the 2012 AVN Award for Best New Starlet, and Lily Carter, a nominee in that same category and one of Elegant Angel’s most celebrated new performers, have been announced as the headlining cast of Performers of the Year 2013. With Ms. Carter performing her very first gangbang (with seven-men!) and what will no doubt be heavy, hardcore turns from both Lee and Akira, both of whom have shot many firsts for Elegant Angel, the release, due at the tail end of December, is sure to impress even those fans who’ve followed these girls’ careers throughout 2012 and have seen Asa in particular go from strength-to-strength. While exact details are still under wraps and the final lineup will be announced in “a couple of weeks”, the William H. directed feature is getting a DVD and Blu-Ray release just in time for the holidays. With company like this, who says you shouldn’t be alone on Christmas?

No on B: the Teleplay!

With Americans preparing to go to the polls in just a few days, there’s plenty of discussion about who to vote for, who not to vote for, and whether or not presidential candidate Roseanne Barr is even on the ballot. Angelenos, however, will have to decide on one county measure that could see thousands out of work, hundreds of companies moving out of state, and the government having far too much control over, of all things, the adult entertainment industry.

Measure B is the controversial ordinance that would, in essence, make shooting porn without condoms and other protective devices illegal, and would see offenders fined and possibly jailed. Proponents of the measure cite allegedly rampant STD and HIV infection rates among adult performers and claim the ordinance is about protecting those having sex on camera. Opponents argue that Measure B is an infringement of their constitutional right to have sex however they see fit, on camera or off; that the adult industry is aggressively self-regulated and performers are much less likely to contract an STD than someone fucking in the general populace; that, if enacted, the ordinance would see the adult industry moving out of state, causing a huge increase in unemployment rates due to lack of work for those that work in off-screen positions throughout the industry; and, according to MarketWatch, it would cost LA county “in excess of $300,000” to start the program and $1.7 million or more per year to maintain, according to a report from Los Angeles Fire Department.

You, however, might not be in LA and might not see what all the fuss is about. How convenient then that James Deen and Jessica Drake, both staunch opponents of the measure, have, under Kimberly Kane’s direction, produced the following informational video, showing what porn could very well be like should Measure B pass.
