The Sadist is Present

There are porn parodies and then there are porn movies that use existing cultural artifacts to create their own take on a popular subject. Most porn parodies use television or movies or comic books or public sex scandals as the basis of their hardcore, but Intersec Interactive has significantly different tastes than most pornography studios and has therefore opted to tackle a rather unusual subject for one of Top Grl’s challenging femdom sessions: Serbian artist Marina Abramović’s landmark 736-hour-and-30-minute performance piece, The Artist is Present.

thesadistispresent

Devised and performed by Abramović for MOMA’s 2010 retrospective of her work, The Artist is Present saw a still and silent Abramović seated before gallery patrons, many of whom were moved to tears by nothing but the artist’s returned gaze. This might seem an odd sort of artwork to influence porn production, but Intersec Interactive is an odd sort of company. One of Kink.com’s few genuine competitors, Intersec has unleashed via Top Grl a scene entitled The Sadist is Present that, although using an unchanging endurance performance piece as its inspiration, thankfully offers a bit more activity than Abramović’s now legendary work.

Mona Wales has taken a seat, naked except for tall heels, when in walks Bonnie Day. Stunned, Bonnie receives her command: Make yourself comfortable. Ordered to strip in front of the embodiment of the perfect female figure, Bonnie follows each subsequent instruction to the letter, whether it’s kneeling in a pile of stiff rice grains, flogging herself with a cat o’ nine tails, and even peeling an onion only to use it as a masturbatory device.

This is some weird shit, y’all, and it’s highly entertaining even though the rest of the scene takes place not in a gallery space but in a fairly typical bondage rack in some dank basement cum dungeon somewhere. More sadistic physical abuse is on the cards, only it uses the same tropes and tools found in most hardcore BDSM work. Clearly, then, art and porn are becoming increasingly intertwined (as also evidenced by the rise of publicly advertised and accessible erotic art shows and film festivals) but still have some way to go. For all the efforts of Mona Wales, Bonnie Day, and the Top Grl and Intersec teams, they still fall short of the epic commitment required by Abramović. But, hey, it’s a swell start!

Stoya & Kayden Curate Porn Collection

The problem with the current state of the porn industry is, according to acclaimed performer/directors Kayden Kross and Stoya, not always the content itself, but also the delivery, the pricing, the piracy, the web design, the attitutde… fuck, what isn’t wrong with porn today? Under the direction of these two newly anointed legends of lust, however, a vision of porn appears and threatens to demolish the status quo. Introducing Trenchcoatx.

trenchcoatx

While the rather unfortunate name Trenchcoatx recalls exhibitionist sexual assault (a flasher’s trenchcoat), the service is far from unwanted. Hell, according to the two porntrepreneurs running the thing, it’s damn well essential. See, Trenchcoatx isn’t your average porn site. Instead of offering a huge smattering of so-so smut for one monthly price, this pay-per-view venture removes the need for a constant stream of mediocre content, instead only offering what they (Stoya & Kayden) consider worthwhile, ensuring that every scene and movie offers the viewers something they can’t find elsewhere. Titles already available include Stoya’s directorial debut, Graphic Depictions (starring “genderqueer hero” Jiz Lee and Lily LaBeau), Wide Open: Misha Cross, and Dana Vespoli’s Fluid and there are more titles on their way. Currently, all available scenes are priced at $3.99 each, a very reasonable price affordable to pretty much everyone. It’s also much cheaper than paying for a full monthly membership to a site that really only offers you three or four solid and suitable episodes each month.

Wide Open: Misha Cross

What appears to be missing from Trenchcoatx (which is admittedly still in beta) is some kind of personal interconnectivity. Stoya, in particular, has utilized Twitter as few other pornstars have, letting her voice and career bleed into articles for Vice, orgasmic poetry readings, and finding herself solidified as porn’s smarter, more business savvy “Sxxxa Gxxy”. Hopefully some kind of (how you say) les medias sociaux will arrive with the non-beta version of Trenchcoatx, something that will allow fellow perverts and porn aficionados to communicate with each other and, presumably, provide Stoya & Kayden what they need to push Trenchcoatx, a wonderful idea with a big challenge ahead, what it needs to not only survive, but thrive in the fickle world of online porn

Your Invitation to Lethal Hardcore: Live!

lethal hardcore

Sitting at home (or “on the throne” during an unscheduled work break) and watching your favorite adult performers get their rocks off while you pretend to be somewhere more exciting and arousing than your usual beat-off spot is fun, sure, but it could be a whole lot better. If only you were able to morph into a blowfly and buzz into, say, Evil Angel’s or Lethal Hardcore’s studios for a day, content to watch porn’s most adventurous women perform in the flesh. Sure, you couldn’t touch them (entomophilia doesn’t really have a place in mainstream porn) but just being in the same room as these incredible women as they work their sexual magic should be enough to make any porn fan go gaga at the chance. And now, thanks to Lethal Hardcore’s Stoney Curtis, you’ll have that chance this April!

Having longed for a way to bring the fans to the shoot, Curtis came up with a post-apocalyptic future in which to set a story that he calls “The Hunger Games meets The Matrix.” Giving AVN a synopsis of his upcoming epic, Curtis let the pitch flow: “America has been in a civil war; we’ve overthrown our own government due to the gap between the rich and the poor, which has wiped out the middle class. … Basically, the country has been split into 3,000 separate territories.” Exposure to radiation has left the majority of men infertile and the human race appears doomed until a scientist brings news of a remedy involving the seed of the few remaining fertile men. With the price of sperm rocketing to millions-per-load, the setup allows Curtis to explore what might happen if something would come along to reverse our sexual roles and induce women to “drag us someplace and fuck the shit out of us.” (That’s where Anikka Albrite, Riley Reid, Maddy O’Reilly, Brooklyn Chase, and Layla Price come in!)

To grab your spot on the sidelines and see this sci-fi fuck-fest unfold live before your very eyes – like The Hunger Games, there’s an audience for the (sexual) mayhem unleashed on the field and in the arena – simply join the Lethal Hardcore Fan Club, pick your 15-DVD porn pack and request your free ticket to the LA filming of the company’s upcoming mega-feature. Now, this offer won’t suit those porn viewers unable to swing a few hundred bucks on porn, but if your finances are in order you could buy yourself a front row seat to watch Riley, Anikka, and the others work their magic. Don’t want your face to appear onscreen? There’ll be masks available. Want to bring your lady? That’ll cost you an extra hundred. Don’t want to miss out on a chance to make every porn lover’s dream a reality? Go talk to Stoney Curtis of Lethal Hardcore – he’s making dreams come true!

Beatin’ on a Budget! with Exxxtasy

A few years ago, a friend of a friend was over at my place and noticed a stack of about ten DVD-R spindles sitting on top of a bookshelf. When I told him they contained digital copies of old and obscure Japanese, Korean, and Polish cinema titles, he couldn’t believe his ears. It wasn’t my questionable copyright infringement that disturbed him, it was the idea that I still kept content stored on physical discs. “Media should be streamed,” he told me, “DVDs just take up landfill space, degrade in quality over time, and are prone to damage.” I defended my burning habit: “But you can’t loan a stream to a friend or throw it into the trash if it’s a shitty movie.” Still, he maintained that streaming was the way to go, a position clearly held by the subject of this week’s Beating on a Budget, the streaming only Exxxtasy.

exxxtasy

Now, don’t get me wrong. If you’re a particular kind of online porn viewer, the kind that keeps an archive of, say, Belladonna’s roughest gangbangs or the complete online works of Alina Li you won’t have much use for Exxxtasy, where downloading is prohibited. Those of you down with HD streams, on the other hand, might not have seen a site this appealing for a long, long time. Exxxtasy has only just begun its assault on your bandwidth, but it’s already a large site hosting tons of high-quality mainstream porn releases that, though not exclusive, are great to see pulled together in one place. Even though Exxxtasy was already dirt cheap to access, the site is celebrating its growth with a discount that should have all you porn-streamers clamoring to think of a totes sweet username. Originally $9.99-a-month, Exxxtasy, home to titles by Elegant Angel, Harmony Films, Pure Play Media, and Killergram, among others, can now be enjoyed for a ridiculously low $4.99 (valid for your first month’s access).

Although it’s by no means a perfect site, Exxxtasy overcomes its detriments (poor navigation tools, no downloading, no photos, no Roku channel… yet) and, quite simply, makes you an offer you can’t refuse: who can pass up 1,500 killer porno scenes starring A-listers galore for a measly $4.99? Hell, I was even granted complimentary access for review purposes and I still bought one month inside Exxxtasy. And here’s why…

THE MATH:
Exxxtasy currently holds a pretty dang substantial 1,547 scenes in its archives and charges $4.99 for one month’s access. This price point means that each individual scene hits a cost of only .3¢ – that’s one-third of a single cent! What more savings does a dirt-poor porn fan need?

Bargains like Exxxtasy don’t come along too often and especially not those granting you access to a hefty award-winning porn archive starring every pornstar worth a damn over the last decade, so (personal opinion alert) I’d pounce on this one if I were you.
